Crossbridge Muscle Model Parameters of Different Fiber Types
نویسندگان
چکیده
Skeletal muscle has a range of contractile properties which are dependent upon the types of myosin isoforms making up the muscle. Specifically, mechanical properties, such as maximal shortening velocity (Vmax), are strongly correlated with myosin heavy chain (MHC) content. Mathematical models of muscle force generation account for these variations by having different sets of parameters. For instance, the Hill model would modify the hyperbolic force-velocity constants across fiber types. However, if muscle model parameters could be set according to the known biophysical measurements from the different MHC types, the model parameters could be determined without empirical curve fitting of mechanical data.

Effects of ionic parameters on behavior of a skeletal muscle fiber model
All living cells have a membrane which separates inside the cell from it's outside. There is a potential difference between inside and outside of the cell. This potential difference will change during an action potential. It is quite common to peruse action potentials of skeletal muscle fibers with the Hodgkin-Huxley model. Since Hodgkin and Huxley summarized some controlling currents like inwa...
متن کاملTo the Problem of Cross-bridge Tension in Steady Muscle Shortening and Lengthening
. Abstract. Despite the great success of the Huxley sliding filament model proposed half a century ago for actin-myosin linkages (cross-bridges), it fails to explain the force-velocity behavior of stretching skeletal muscles. Huxley’s two-state kinetic equation for cross-bridge proportions is therefore reconsidered and a new solution to the problem of steady muscle eccentric and concentric cont...
متن کاملRegional differences of energetics, mechanics, and kinetics of myosin cross-bridge in human ureter smooth muscle.
This study provides information about baseline mechanical properties of the entire muscle and the molecular contractile mechanism in human ureter smooth muscle and proposed to investigate if changes in mechanical motor performance in different regions of isolated human ureter are attributable to differences in myosin crossbridge interactions. Classic mechanical, contraction and energetic parame...
متن کاملMyosin filament sliding through the Z-disc relates striated muscle fibre structure to function.
Striated muscle contraction requires intricate interactions of microstructures. The classic textbook assumption that myosin filaments are compressed at the meshed Z-disc during striated muscle fibre contraction conflicts with experimental evidence. For example, myosin filaments are too stiff to be compressed sufficiently by the muscular force, and, unlike compressed springs, the muscle fibres d...
متن کاملEffect of Temperature on Crossbridge Force Changes during Fatigue and Recovery in Intact Mouse Muscle Fibers
Repetitive or prolonged muscle contractions induce muscular fatigue, defined as the inability of the muscle to maintain the initial tension or power output. In the present experiments, made on intact fiber bundles from FDB mouse, fatigue and recovery from fatigue were investigated at 24°C and 35°C. Force and stiffness were measured during tetani elicited every 90 s during the pre-fatigue contro...
